    Our Board of Directors

    The Sutter Lakeside Hospital Board of Directors is comprised of a diverse group of individuals. Board members devote their time to help guide Sutter Lakeside to its goals while insuring it maintains its commitment to the organizations mission, vision, and values.

    Bill Kearney, R.Ph., Chair

    Bill Kearney photoBill Kearney has served as a member of Sutter Lakeside Hospital Board of Trustees for the past four years. Currently, he is the chairman of the board and chairs the Medical Policy Committee.

    Mr. Kearney and his wife, Dana, have raised four children during the 23 years they have resided in Lake County. During this time, Mr. Kearney has participated in numerous community projects to improve the Lake County area.

    Mr. Kearney graduated from Drake University with a degree in Pharmacy and is the owner of the North Lake Medical Pharmacies.

    Mr. Kearney served his country during Vietnam from 1967-1969.

    John T. Tomkins, Vice Chair

    John T. Tomkins photoJohn Tomkins is from upstate New York by way of Huston Texas, Orange California and now Lake County.

    In his past lives, Mr. Tomkins was controller of the Huston YMCA, the Los Angeles YMCA and the Long Beach YMCA.

    He and his family moved to Lake County in 1974 after purchasing an income tax practice. Mr Tomkins is enrolled to practice before the I.R.S. and also holds a CFP designation.

    An active community member, he has been on the Sutter Lakeside Hospital Board of Trustees since June of 2001 and is currently in his fifth term on the Upper Lake Union High School Board. In addition, Mr. Tomkins was selected as "Man Of The Year" in February 2000 through the Stars of Lake County Program.

    More importantly John says, "Every man should have a daughter and I have been triple blessed."

    Ilene Dumont, Secretary

    Ilene Dumont photoIlene Dumont is a fourth generation Lake County resident. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Health Services from Sacramento State University and her Teaching Credential from University of California-Berkley.

    Ms. Dumont has spent her career serving persons with disabilities. She has been very instrumental in the development and implementation of services for the developmentally disabled residing in Lake County. Ms. Dumont is currently the Executive Director of People Services, Inc.

    Ms. Dumont is an active volunteer and board member of many agencies and businesses throughout Lake County. She is a co-founder and Chairperson of the Lakeport Enhanced Education Foundation; founding Director and Financial Officer of the Corporation for Supported Living Environments; Chairperson of the Social Services Transportation Advisory Council; Active member and Secretary of the Lakeport Rotary Club; Board member for Lake Community Bank; new Board Member to Sutter Lakeside Community Services.

    Ms. Dumont has received many honors and recognition throughout her life accomplishments including 1987-88 "Woman of the Year" from the Lakeport Kiwanis and in 2001 "Humanitarian of the Year" from the STARS of Lake County.

    Ms. Dumont and her husband, Lary, reside in Lakeport and have raised two successful children.

    Ms. Dumont has been on the Sutter Lakeside Board since July 2003 and serves on the Medical Policy Committee.

    Michael J. Cohill

    Michael J. Cohill photoMichael J. Cohill is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sutter Health's Sonoma County operations. He has executive responsibility for Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa and Sutter Medical Foundation - North Bay, whose physician services are provided by Sutter Medical Group of the Redwoods and a number of other contracted physicians

    Since 1994 Mr. Cohill has held multiple senior leadership positions in Sutter Health's Central Valley Service Area. Prior to coming to Sonoma County he served as CEO of the Central Valley Service Area, with responsibility for the administration, integration and growth of Sutter affiliates in San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced Counties. His Central Valley experience also includes tenures as Chief Operating Officer and later Chief Executive Officer of Sutter Gould Medical Foundation in Modesto, CA.

    Mr. Cohill holds a bachelor's degree from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD and a master's degree in Health Services Administration from St. Louis University. He is actively involved in the Sonoma Health Alliance, serves on the board of the Redwood Empire Chapter of the American Red Cross. Mr. Cohill and his wife, Jayne, are avid golfers and have two grown daughters.

    Bruce Deas, M.D.

    Bruce Deas, MD photoDr. Bruce Deas joined the Sutter Lakeside Board in January of 2005. Dr. Deas is the current Medical Director of the Family Medicine Clinic at Sutter Lakeside Hospital as well as the Community health Center in Upper Lake.

    Dr. Deas has been a member of the Sutter Lakeside Hospital medical staff since 1990, working in the Emergency Room. He became the Director of the Emergency Department in 1993 and is Chief of Emergency Medicine as well as Vice-Chief of Staff.

    Dr. Deas graduated from UC Irvine Medical School and did his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York.

    Dr. Deas currently lives in Healdsburg with his wife Suzel Bozada-Deas and their two children.

    Tom Lincoln

    Tom Lincoln photoTom Lincoln is a 30-year resident of Lake County. He is the owner of Lincoln-Leavitt Insurance Agency, Inc., a retail insurance agency employing 12 people with offices in Lakeport and Middletown, California. He holds the professional designation of Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU).

    Mr. Lincoln was appointed to the board in the fall of 2004. He served on the board previously from 1983 to 1995 and was chairman at the time Lakeside Hospital elected to affiliate with the Sutter Health system. He currently serves on the board's Corporate Resources Committee.

    Mr. Lincoln also serves as a director of the Leavitt Group Agency Association, representing all California Leavitt-affiliated agencies, and he is on the board of the Friends of the Lake County Museum, currently serving as president. He is a past president of the Lakeport Rotary Club and two-time past president of the Lakeport Regional Chamber of Commerce.

    He is married to Ruth Lincoln, Director of Lake County Health of Services. They have five children and reside in Lakeport.

    Michael Lunas

    Michael Lunas photoMichael Lunas has been a member of the Sutter Lakeside Hospital Board of Trustees for seven years.

    Mike served as Chairman of the Board 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. Mike has served on all board committees and is presently chairman of the Governance Committee and a member of the Medical Policy Committee.

    Mr. Lunas is an attorney in Lake County. He has engaged in the active practice of law for over 20 years.

    Mike and his wife, Diana, have four children and reside in Lakeport.

    Alan Sampson, M.D.

    Alan Sampson, MD photoAlan Sampson, M.D. has been a member of the medical staff at Sutter Lakeside Hospital since 1991. Since his tenure, he has served as Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery and a member of the Sutter Lakeside Hospital Board of Trustees for four years.

    After graduating from the University of Iowa Medical College, Dr. Sampson completed an ophthamology residency at White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles.

    Dr. Sampson also serves on the board of the Non-Profit Community Network.

    Dr. Sampson and his wife, Kathy, and their three children reside in Kelseyville.

    One of Dr. Sampson's goals as a trustee of Sutter Lakeside Hospital is to help facilitate an enhanced partnership between the hospital, the medical staff and the community at large.

    Jennifer Strong, CFP

    Jennifer Strong photoA fifth generation Lake County resident, Jennifer Strong joined the Sutter Lakeside Hospital board in 2003. Ms. Strong received a bachelor of science degree from California State University, Chico with an emphasis in business.

    Ms. Strong joined the financial services industry in 1993 as a Branch Manager for a large regional bank. In 1998, she affiliated with Investment Centers of America and founded Strong Financial Network.

    Ms. Strong is the past president of the Lakeport Rotary Club and has served on the Lakeport Chamber of Commerce, and is an advisory board member of the Investment Centers of America.

    Jennifer currently resides in rural Upper Lake with her son Gabe.

    Jonathan Davies, M.D.

    Jonathan Davies, MD photoDr. Davies was voted physician of the year for 2004 and has been a member of the medical staff at SLH since 2001. Dr. Davies has served as Vice Chief of Staff and is the Medical Director of OB/GYN Services. He has been a member of the board for two years.

    Dr. Davies graduated from the University of Kansas and completed his OB/GYN residency at UCLA in 2001. He supports several youth athletic groups and is an avid pilot and gardener.

    Dr. Davies, his wife Lisa, and their five children reside in Lakeport.

    Mark Buehnerkemper, OD

    Mark Buehnerkemper, OD photoMark Buehnerkemper, OD (or "Dr. Mark" to most who know him) has been practicing optometry in Lake County since November of 1996. He entered the Southern California College of Optometry in 1992, and graduated with distinction. Prior to this, he worked for Rockwell International as a materials scientist in the electro-optical field.

    Dr. Mark is currently a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Redwood Empire Optometric Society. He is also a member of the Lakeport Rotary Club and is president for the 2006-07 Rotary year. Dr. Mark has served on the board of directors for the Committee on Health and Disabilities (CHAD) as well as the Sutter Lakeside Wellness Foundation.

    He, his wife Monica, and their three children reside in Kelseyville. They own and operate M-Square Farms, a horse boarding facility, emphasizing a natural approach to horsemanship. They are active in their church through music and education and assist with musical productions at Clearlake High School.
